Why Garlic & Cheese Specifically?

My personal favorite type of pizza is the garlic cheese pizza. It is a rich, savory, and delicious pie created from the combination of the two main ingredients: cheese and garlic. The punch of the garlic compliments the texture of feel of the gooey melted cheese without overpowering the dish. An excellent choice for those who decide to partake in a bold combination of toppings.

Best Types of Cheese.

The type of cheese comes down to whatever you are comfortable with! My personal preference is mozzarella. Mozzarella just has the best stringy, stretchy texture that adds a bit of uniqueness to the eating experience. Mozzarella itself is great for pizza as it manages high heat very well and is considered one of the healthiest cheeses to be put on pizza.

When to Add Garlic.

Adding garlic to your pizza can be done at any point in the pizza-making process. My go-to when adding toppings to my pizza goes as follows: sauce, a first layer of cheese (mozzarella), sliced or minced raw garlic, any other toppings you may like, and then a second layer of any kind of cheese you’d like, but preferably the same as the first layer. Doing it this way means you’re putting the garlic through the baking process, what this means for you is that you’re integrating the garlic aroma and flavor and melding it with the other ingredients on the pizza. These attributes can be subtle and mellow or slightly pronounced and pungent depending on how finely you’ve sliced or chopped your garlic. On the other hand, adding garlic after the baking process gives the pizza a sharper, more intense taste with the original pronounced aroma of the garlic. Additionally, since the garlic has not been baked, you can get a crunchier bite from a few slices of your pizza for a great crisp texture.

Best Eaten Fresh, Never Frozen.

Eating pizza, handmade, fresh out of the oven is a greater experience than heating a frozen store-bought one. Freshly baked pizza allows you finer control over the ingredients you want to put on, which in our case would be how much garlic and cheese you may want alongside your other favourite ingredients. You can even add cheese stuffed crust and brush it with a garlic butter sauce to make it crispy and gooey. The quality of the ingredients is up to your discretion instead of packaged ones filled with preservative chemicals. Finally, just the experience of sharing a homemade pizza and relishing the moment you all enjoy something you’ve created is something frozen pizza can never amount to.
